T-Minus 24 hours

“We live in a wonderful world that is full of beauty, charm and adventure. There is no end to the adventures that we can have if only we seek them with our eyes open.”

~Jawaharlal Nehru~

It was an early morning in October when I received a phone call.  A number unknown and a voice I was yet to be familiar with.  On the other end, "Congratulations and welcome to the Holland Fellow family."  After a brutal interview, to the point where I called my mom and said "Well that was fun to consider," I did not realize what kind of door had just opened.

Now, seven months later it all seems like a dream.  The experiences that I have had from that point until today, are irrevocable.  The memories will stay with me forever.  And now, the memories to come will last a lifetime.  The experiences and adventures will succeed in shaping me into a better person and what I will take away will be worth everything.

Embarking on adventures, no matter how long or short, have a tendency bring forth feelings of excitement, anxiousness, and readiness, all for what is to come.  After time of reflection, I gladly welcome the experience that is about to hit me full on.  I welcome the new friendships and I welcome the many times that I will be unbearably lost in the cities that swallow me whole.  I welcome it all.

I write today, to welcome you in sharing these memories, laughs, and realities with me. This will have to suffice, for the time being, as your ticket inside a different culture and an experience full of personal growth.  It is my goal to stay in contact with most, yet realizing it will be difficult with such restrictions abroad.  At least, through this media, you will be able to somewhat follow me through this journey.

With hopes of happy trails ahead,

Mattie
